Type: Null moves
Pokemon that are not starters begin with the signature move of their first type, so Type: Null starts every run with Tackle: charges in an arc at everything in front of you.
The level-up cards can then offer 8 different moves: the 8 Normal moves that every Pokemon shares. Moves level up to level 5 and can evolve once you also take the stat card they need, which is covered in the move evolution guide. The permanent Repertoire upgrade adds a second, random starting move; see the upgrades guide.
- Normal moves: Tackle, Quick Attack, Swords Dance, Agility, Harden, Body Slam, Hyper Voice, Substitute
Weaknesses and resistances
Type: Null takes extra damage from Fighting (1.6x). It resists Ghost (0.3x). The remaining 16 of 18 types deal normal damage. The chart is softer than the main games: a super-effective hit is x1.6, a resisted hit x0.6 and an immunity x0.3, and two types multiply with each other inside the range 0.3 to 2.4. See the type chart guide for every matchup.
The multipliers apply to the damage you take, and enemies attack with the first type listed for them, so the dangerous enemies for Type: Null are the ones whose first type is Fighting. Boss shots carry their first type too. Weather does not change these numbers, but it changes your own damage; see the weather guide. There is no same-type bonus, so Normal moves do not hit harder just because Type: Null shares the type.
How to get Type: Null
Type: Null is part of the Alola banner. A single pull first picks a rarity (1.5% for Legendary) and then picks one of the 17 Legendary Pokemon on that banner at random, so one pull gives Type: Null a 0.09% chance. Every banner has its own pity counter: the 70th pull without a 5-star is always a 5-star, which works out to about 43.5 pulls per 5-star and roughly 740 pulls to land this particular one.
A pull costs one ticket and ten pulls cost ten tickets or one x10 ticket. Tickets are earned in runs, from missions and from chests and are never sold for money. A duplicate turns into 300 coins, or 900 if it is the shiny version. The full odds and the pity rule are in the gacha guide.
Shiny Type: Null exists in this game. One pull in a hundred is a shiny, and wild enemies are shiny one time in 4096. Read the shiny guide for the details.
Type: Null as an enemy
Type: Null never shows up as a regular enemy because 5-star Pokemon are left out of the enemy cast.
As a legendary it can also be the opponent in a rift. The game picks a rift legendary at random and favors the ones you have not beaten yet, then builds an arena from one of its types: Eternal Meadow (Normal). Its attack set is a ground slam, a straight charge, a fan of shots, and falling danger zones. See the rifts guide and the legendaries guide.
