Pokemon Survivor Weather: Effects, Biomes and Type Boosts

Pokemon Survivor weather: sun, rain, sandstorm, snow and fog, which types they boost, the health they take and how biomes decide what rolls.

Pokemon Survivor weather is a rare event that changes how hard each type hits, for you and for the enemies. There are five kinds: sun, rain, sandstorm, snow and fog. Each lasts about a minute.

This page lists what each one does, how often it can roll, which biome favors which weather and which moves gain. It builds on the numbers in the type chart.

How Pokemon Survivor weather works

  • When it rolls. Weather can only start after the two-minute mark. From then on the game rolls once a minute with an 18% chance, and only when no weather is active, so the first roll lands at about 3:00. Over a full run that is about four weather events on average.
  • How long it lasts. Between 55 and 75 seconds. It fades in and out over about 3 seconds each, and the effect scales with that fade.
  • Who it affects. Everyone: your attacks, enemy attacks, and the health drain from sandstorm and snow.
  • Where it does not roll. Not inside a rift arena (some arenas bring their own weather, see the arenas) and not during the Judgment of Arceus.
  • Groups. In a group the host decides the weather and everyone sees the same one.

The five kinds of weather

Pokemon Survivor weather multipliers apply to the damage of a move of that type, on top of the type chart. Sandstorm and snow also drain health from Pokemon that do not match their immune types.

WeatherStrongerWeakerOther effects
SunFire x1.5Water x0.5-
RainWater x1.5, Electric x1.2Fire x0.5-
SandstormRock x1.3, Ground x1.3, Steel x1.3-Every Pokemon without a Rock, Ground or Steel type loses health over time.
SnowIce x1.5-Every Pokemon without the Ice type loses health over time and moves about 10% slower.
FogGhost x1.3, Fairy x1.3, Psychic x1.3-The view closes in a little at the edges.

How much sandstorm and snow hurt

Once the weather is past half strength, every two seconds a Pokemon without an immune type loses health. For you that is 1.2% of your max HP each time, and it never takes you below 1 HP, so it cannot defeat you by itself.

Enemies lose 2% of their max HP plus 1 each time, and unlike you they can be defeated by it. Bosses are not affected. The drain makes sandstorm and snow strong against a crowd when your own Pokemon is immune, and a reason to heal and move when it is not.

Which weather each biome favors

When a weather event rolls, the biome sets the odds of each kind. These are the chances, given that something rolls:

BiomeChance of each weather
Shady ForestSun 20%, Rain 40%, Sandstorm 7%, Snow 7%, Fog 27%
Crystal CaveRain 13%, Sandstorm 13%, Snow 33%, Fog 40%
Ash VolcanoSun 43%, Sandstorm 43%, Fog 14%

Weather odds through a run

The map changes biome every four minutes with a short fade. Pokemon Survivor weather odds use the three tables above in turn, one for each four-minute block, and start over after the third. The first block uses Shady Forest.

Moves that gain from weather

Playing around Pokemon Survivor weather

  • Look at the name that flashes on screen when weather starts: it tells you which types are stronger. Pokemon Survivor tips has advice for the rest of a run.
  • Do not bring a Water move into the sun, or a Fire move into the rain, unless you have a second move to switch to.
  • If your Pokemon has a Rock, Ground, Steel or Ice type, sandstorm or snow is a free advantage against the crowd.
  • Bosses and rift legendaries use the same multipliers; see bosses and rifts.

Pokemon Survivor weather FAQ

How often does weather appear in Pokemon Survivor?

After the two-minute mark the game rolls once a minute with an 18% chance, so roughly four times in a full 30-minute run.

How long does weather last?

Between 55 and 75 seconds, with a three-second fade at each end.

Can weather kill me?

No. Sandstorm and snow drain 1.2% of your max HP every two seconds but never take you below 1 HP.

Yes. Their attacks are multiplied the same way, and non-immune enemies other than bosses lose health in a sandstorm or snow.
