What Gust does
Gust is a Flying-type orbit move. Whirlwinds that escort you.
A Pokemon can learn it if it is Flying-type, which is true of 102 of the 966 Pokemon. It reaches you as a new-move card when you level up, as long as one of your four move slots is free. 7 Pokemon begin a run with it. Each level-up draws three cards by weight from up to six new-move candidates, your move upgrades and the stat cards, so even a good move can sit out several level-ups.
It knocks enemies back.
Gust stats by level
At level 1, Gust deals 13 damage with a 0.26 second cooldown. At level 5 that becomes 31 damage every 0.26 seconds.
Each orb hits an enemy again on its own re-hit timer, which is why the table shows a re-hit time instead of a cooldown, and the damage you get depends on how many enemies stand in the orbit. The table lists every number the game gives Gust, so it has no single damage per second figure.
| Level | Damage | Re-hit | Orbs | Radius |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 13 | 0.26 s | 3 | 72 |
| 2 | 13 | 0.26 s | 4 | 72 |
| 3 | 20 | 0.26 s | 4 | 72 |
| 4 | 20 | 0.26 s | 4 | 90 |
| 5 | 31 | 0.26 s | 5 | 90 |
| Hurricane | 53 | 0.26 s | 7 | 103 |

Gust evolution: Hurricane
Gust evolves into Hurricane when it reaches level 5 and you have taken the Sprint card at least once in the same run. Once both are true, a golden evolution card is always offered at your next level-up. Until then, the Sprint card keeps showing up with a note that it unlocks this evolution, so you do not have to hunt for it.
Hurricane keeps the Flying type and the same slot. Its damage goes from 31 to 53 and its cooldown stays at 0.26 seconds. The move evolution guide lists all 59 evolutions and the cards they need.
- +2 orbs
- +70% damage

How to use Gust
- Orbit moves do not need a target: the orbs circle you for as long as the move is in your active slot and hit whatever they touch.
- Grass, Fighting, and Bug take 60% more damage from Flying moves, while Electric, Rock, and Steel take 40% less. Enemies with two types multiply both effects. See the type chart.
- Other orbit moves are Fire Spin and Petal Blizzard. The moves list compares all 64.
- Orbit moves ignore cooldown multipliers: the orbs re-hit on their own fixed timer, so Reflexes cards and Quick Claw do nothing for this move. Power cards and the Pokemon's attack still apply.
- Only the move group in your active slot fires, and every move in the group keeps its own cooldown timer. A bond, which a rift win gives you, fuses loose moves into one group.
- Weather can boost or weaken Flying moves: see the weather guide.
