How Amulet Coin works
The bonus is applied once, to the whole payout at the end of the run, and it multiplies with the Fortune upgrade.
Coins are paid out however the run ends, so the bonus still counts if you are defeated.
A run pays the time survived divided by 5, a quarter of the Pokemon defeated, 80 for each boss and the coins you picked up, and then the multiplier. The table uses three example runs.
| Example run | Coins without the item | With Amulet Coin | With Amulet Coin and Fortune 8 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 minutes, 1,000 defeats, 2 bosses, 150 coins picked up | 680 | 1,020 | 1,673 |
| 15 minutes, 2,000 defeats, 5 bosses, 300 coins picked up | 1,380 | 2,070 | 3,395 |
| 30 minutes, 6,000 defeats, 5 bosses, 600 coins picked up | 2,860 | 4,290 | 7,036 |
Amulet Coin compared with cards and upgrades
+50% is a little less than a fully bought Fortune upgrade (+64%), but it costs no coins and multiplies with it.
Cards come from level-ups during a run and upgrades are bought with coins between runs, while a held item takes the single item slot. The table puts them side by side. The upgrades guide covers the whole shop.
| Source | Bonus | Cost or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Amulet Coin | +50% coins at the end of the run | Free; uses the item slot |
| Fortune upgrade | +8% coins per level (up to +64%) | 4,950 coins in total |
Trade-off and when to take Amulet Coin
It does nothing for survival, and it takes the single item slot that a defensive or damage item would use.
Take it when the run is already safe and the goal is coins for upgrades. Coins go into one shared wallet, while upgrades are bought per Pokemon, so the bonus is worth the most to a player who keeps one partner and fills in its shop.
The bonus is a share of the whole payout, so it is worth the most in long runs that defeat many Pokemon and bosses. In a short run it adds little.
How to find Amulet Coin
Held items come from three places. Every boss drops one, and a full run has five bosses, at minutes 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15. A locked chest holds one half the time, and an ordinary chest 8% of the time. Rift legendaries drop one as well. The bosses guide lists every boss and the rifts guide covers the legendaries.
Each drop picks one of the 11 items at random with no memory of what you carry, so a given drop is Amulet Coin one time in 11 (9.1%). Over the 5 boss drops of a full run that is a 38% chance of meeting Amulet Coin at least once, before counting chests.
You carry one item at a time. If you find a second, the game pauses and asks which to keep, and in a group it pauses for everyone. Finding the item you already carry changes nothing: you are told you already carry it and play on. The full list is on the held items page.
