How Lucky Egg works
More experience means level-ups come sooner, which means more cards and faster move upgrades.
The bonus multiplies with Learning cards and the Wisdom upgrade.
Each level needs more experience than the one before. Reaching level 15 takes 6,593 experience in total, while going from level 25 to 30 takes 13,649 on its own. The table shows the total to reach a level and the raw experience you must collect with the egg.
| Level reached | Total experience needed | Raw experience to collect with the egg |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | 510 | 393 |
| 10 | 2,497 | 1,921 |
| 15 | 6,593 | 5,072 |
| 20 | 13,365 | 10,281 |
| 25 | 23,333 | 17,949 |
| 30 | 36,982 | 28,448 |
Lucky Egg compared with cards and upgrades
A 30% bonus is worth about 2.3 Learning cards, and it multiplies with the Wisdom upgrade.
Cards come from level-ups during a run and upgrades are bought with coins between runs, while a held item takes the single item slot. The table puts them side by side. The upgrades guide covers the whole shop.
| Source | Bonus | Cost or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Lucky Egg | +30% experience | Free; uses the item slot |
| Learning card | +12% experience each, multiplies | A level-up card; up to 8 |
| Wisdom upgrade | +5% experience per level (up to +40%) | 3,700 coins in total |
Trade-off and when to take Lucky Egg
It adds no defense and no damage by itself. It pays back over minutes, not in the next ten seconds.
The bonus is the same 30% at every level, but early levels give the cards and moves that define a build, so a faster start is where the egg helps most.
Late in a run the next level is far away whatever you carry, so a defensive item gives you more for the slot.
How to find Lucky Egg
Held items come from three places. Every boss drops one, and a full run has five bosses, at minutes 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15. A locked chest holds one half the time, and an ordinary chest 8% of the time. Rift legendaries drop one as well. The bosses guide lists every boss and the rifts guide covers the legendaries.
Each drop picks one of the 11 items at random with no memory of what you carry, so a given drop is Lucky Egg one time in 11 (9.1%). Over the 5 boss drops of a full run that is a 38% chance of meeting Lucky Egg at least once, before counting chests.
You carry one item at a time. If you find a second, the game pauses and asks which to keep, and in a group it pauses for everyone. Finding the item you already carry changes nothing: you are told you already carry it and play on. The full list is on the held items page.
