What Aura Sphere does
Aura Sphere is a Fighting-type projectile move. An energy sphere that never misses.
A Pokemon can learn it if it is Fighting-type, which is true of 68 of the 966 Pokemon. It reaches you as a new-move card when you level up, as long as one of your four move slots is free. No Pokemon begins a run with it, so you only find it on level-up cards. Each level-up draws three cards by weight from up to six new-move candidates, your move upgrades and the stat cards, so even a good move can sit out several level-ups.
It homes in on targets.
Aura Sphere stats by level
At level 1, Aura Sphere deals 17 damage with a 0.62 second cooldown. At level 5 that becomes 25 damage every 0.46 seconds, which is 159 potential damage per second against 27.4 at level 1.
Potential damage per second multiplies damage by the number of shots and divides by the cooldown. It assumes every one lands on the same enemy and leaves out the Pokemon's attack multiplier, your cards and the type chart, so treat it as an upper bound for comparing levels and moves, not as a kill time.
| Level | Damage | Cooldown | Shots | Pierce | Potential damage per second |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 17 | 0.62 s | 1 | 0 | 27.4 |
| 2 | 17 | 0.62 s | 2 | 0 | 54.8 |
| 3 | 25 | 0.62 s | 2 | 0 | 79.5 |
| 4 | 25 | 0.46 s | 2 | 0 | 106 |
| 5 | 25 | 0.46 s | 3 | 1 | 159 |
| Focus Blast | 44 | 0.46 s | 5 | 3 | 477.1 |

How to use Aura Sphere
- Projectile moves aim at a boss within 330 pixels first, then at an enemy touching you, then at the nearest enemy, so this is the kind of move that reaches a boss through a crowd. It waits until a target is in reach before it fires.
- Normal, Ice, Rock, Dark, and Steel take 60% more damage from Fighting moves, while Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug, and Fairy take 40% less and Ghost takes only 30% of the damage. Enemies with two types multiply both effects. See the type chart.
- Other projectile moves are Ember, Water Gun, and Thunder Shock. The moves list compares all 64.
- Each Reflexes card multiplies every cooldown by 0.92 and each Power card multiplies damage by 1.10. After 5 Reflexes cards the 0.62 second cooldown of Aura Sphere at level 1 becomes 0.41 seconds.
- Only the move group in your active slot fires, and every move in the group keeps its own cooldown timer. A bond, which a rift win gives you, fuses loose moves into one group.
- Weather can boost or weaken Fighting moves: see the weather guide.
