Stats and Stat Score
Empoleon has 108 HP, 103 speed and a 1.31x attack multiplier. The multiplier scales every move it uses, so it is the number to watch.
Compared with the whole roster, its HP is well above average, its speed is about average and its attack is above average. Weighting attack at half and HP and speed at a quarter each gives the Stat Score of 60.5, which puts it at rank 300 overall, rank 42 of 107 among Sinnoh Pokemon and rank 35 of 149 Water-types and 23 of 61 Steel-types. The score comes from the game's stat table, not from playtests, so read it together with the best Pokemon guide.

Empoleon moves
Pokemon that are not starters begin with the signature move of their first type, so Empoleon starts every run with Water Gun: a piercing jet. Reliable at any range.
The level-up cards can then offer 16 different moves: the 8 Normal moves that every Pokemon shares plus 8 moves of its own types. Moves level up to level 5 and can evolve once you also take the stat card they need, which is covered in the move evolution guide. The permanent Repertoire upgrade adds a second, random starting move; see the upgrades guide.
- Normal moves: Tackle, Quick Attack, Swords Dance, Agility, Harden, Body Slam, Hyper Voice, Substitute
- Water moves: Water Gun, Bubble, Hydro Pump, Aqua Ring, Bubble Beam
- Steel moves: Metal Claw, Flash Cannon, Meteor Mash
Weaknesses and resistances
Empoleon takes extra damage from Electric (1.6x), Fighting (1.6x), and Ground (1.6x). It resists Poison (0.3x), Ice (0.36x), Steel (0.36x), Normal (0.6x), Water (0.6x), Flying (0.6x), Psychic (0.6x), Bug (0.6x), Rock (0.6x), Dragon (0.6x), and Fairy (0.6x). The remaining 4 of 18 types deal normal damage. The chart is softer than the main games: a super-effective hit is x1.6, a resisted hit x0.6 and an immunity x0.3, and two types multiply with each other inside the range 0.3 to 2.4. See the type chart guide for every matchup.
The multipliers apply to the damage you take, and enemies attack with the first type listed for them, so the dangerous enemies for Empoleon are the ones whose first type is Electric, Fighting, or Ground. Boss shots carry their first type too. Weather does not change these numbers, but it changes your own damage; see the weather guide. There is no same-type bonus, so Water or Steel moves do not hit harder just because Empoleon shares the type.
How to get Empoleon
Empoleon is part of the Sinnoh banner. A single pull first picks a rarity (6.5% for Epic) and then picks one of the 32 Epic Pokemon on that banner at random, so one pull gives Empoleon a 0.2% chance. Without pity helping at this rarity, expect to need around 492 pulls for this one in particular, although the pulls you spend on the banner also fill the rest of your collection.
A pull costs one ticket and ten pulls cost ten tickets or one x10 ticket. Tickets are earned in runs, from missions and from chests and are never sold for money. A duplicate turns into 120 coins, or 360 if it is the shiny version. The full odds and the pity rule are in the gacha guide.
Shiny Empoleon exists in this game. One pull in a hundred is a shiny, and wild enemies are shiny one time in 4096. Read the shiny guide for the details.
Empoleon as an enemy
Empoleon can show up as a regular enemy from 6:20 into the run (enemy tier 5 and 6). Each run draws only seven Pokemon per tier, so it is in some runs and absent from others.
Its enemy role is charger: it stops to aim for about half a second and then dashes in a straight line at more than three times its walking speed.
It is also strong enough to be picked as a boss: it can fill the minute 3 or minute 6 slot. Boss fights are laid out in the bosses guide. Its attack set would be a ground slam, a leap onto your position, a fan of beams, and a ring of shots.
